Before looks we look at character: an insecure dog, or one that is not at ease in a family, does not enter the programme, however handsome. Every litter born here, with parents, tests, examinations and growth photos, is recorded in the [breeding diary](/en/diario-allevamento/). The puppies grow up in the house and the courtyard, among people and everyday noises. What they can and cannot learn before leaving is explained in [what “socialised puppies” means](/en/socialised-puppies-what-it-means/). Each puppy leaves after the vet checks, with vaccinations, microchip and registration. We help you choose the puppy that suits you, and we are there for advice after the placement too. ## How a mating is planned A mating at Del Piccolo Diavolo is planned months ahead and always follows the same path. It starts with the genetic tests of both breeding dogs for L2HGA and HC, and for the female also DM-SOD1; then the pedigrees are studied on SBTPedigree with its test-mating function, which shows the theoretical coefficient of inbreeding of the puppies and which ancestors it concentrates on. We work within a range of 6 to 9 per cent: below it you lose the chance to fix a character, above it you tighten too much. The male almost always comes from outside, chosen to correct what the female lacks rather than to add two beautiful dogs together. The result is one litter a year, occasionally two, and in some years none. Our dogs are also clear of degenerative myelopathy (DM-SOD1). Write to us on WhatsApp or call. We talk first — about the breed, about your household, about the dogs behind a litter — and we keep the families who follow a litter updated with photos and videos as the puppies grow. ### When can I visit the puppies? Visits are possible by appointment after the third week of the puppies' life. You will be able to meet the parents and see the environment where they grow up. We recommend booking your visit in advance. ### What guarantees do you offer on puppies? Each puppy is delivered with certified ENCI pedigree, microchip, health booklet, first vaccinations and deworming. Parents are tested for L2HGA and HC. The Del Piccolo Diavolo kennel stays available for the whole of the dog's life. ### What lies behind one of your litters? A pairing planned months ahead, breeding dogs tested for L2HGA and HC or clear by parentage, an ENCI pedigree and puppies raised at home.
